General Manager of the Parks Alumni House (SL4) SUNY Cortland

The Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House is a first class facility offering charming accommodations and surroundings. The property includes a 15,000 square foot home with elegant lodging, dining rooms and gardens for social and business events. There is also a carriage house containing to occupied apartments and a large barn and garage. SUNY Cortland is accepting applications for a general manager. The Parks Alumni House general manager is responsible for all aspects of hospitality management including maintaining positive relationships with guests, the community and the College.

This hands-on general manager is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House; including but, not limited to staff supervision; management of the food and beverage operations for overnight guests, meetings and special events; selling large events; marketing, site visits, billing set-up, event set-up, teardown and event execution.

The general manager should have a commitment to treat others at all levels of the organization with fairness and respect; the ability to demonstrate understanding and appreciation of diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace; the desire and ability to promote an environment of inclusive excellence and lead with strong focus on providing exceptional quality and service; a passion or creativity, excellence and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of hospitality management or related experience or associate’s degree with 5 years of hospitality management related experience is required as well as; evidence of ability to lead with demonstrated strong focus on providing exceptional quality and service; demonstrated event planning and programming experience; supervision and budgeting experience, and; willingness and ability to work nights and weekends

Preferred will be given to candidates with experience working with a board; experience working with a historical building and experience in higher education.
