The Morrisville State College Norwich campus has been serving the Norwich community and the surrounding areas for more than 46 years, offering students associate degree options such as Criminal Justice, Computer Information Technology, and Nursing. The campus is also used by businesses, not-for-profits and community partners for training, events and videoconferencing.

Job Description:

The Director of Annual Giving at SUNY Morrisville is the primary architect of an engaging, multi-channel solicitation calendar with the goal of increasing both dollars and donors to support students and the College.  The director is responsible for devising and executing a strategic communications plan in cooperation with the activities and programs of other Institutional Advancement staff.  The ideal candidate will be creative in their approach to annual giving and able to effectively communicate the impact of philanthropy on the College with a wide variety of stakeholders including alumni, parents, and friends.

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Annual Giving will:

  • Develop a solicitation calendar utilizing direct mail, email, social media, phone, and volunteer engagement.
  • Play a key role in setting goals for dollars and donors and then devising the strategies to reach these goals.
  • Work effectively with colleagues to maintain a donor-centered approach while promoting annual giving with major and planned giving prospects
  • Provide oversight and direction of gift processing and stewardship to ensure best practices are followed in data management and donor relations.
  • Oversee the student phonathon program.
  • Manage a prospect portfolio with specific goals for individual donor visits and gift outcomes.


  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • 3 years successful experience in annual giving, alumni relations, fundraising, or a related position preferred
  • A demonstrated record in successful project management and managing teams or volunteers preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to critically assess programs and results
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others towards a common goal
  • Understanding of database management, gift processing and donor relations
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work nights and weekends as required
  • Strong background in Microsoft Excel essential
  • Experience with Banner preferred
