In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a physical and background check.

A. Minimum Requirements: Associate’s degree in a relevant major (Communications, Computer Information Systems, Digital Marketing, Marketing, Web design, or similar) plus one (1) year of communications experience for electronic media. Must also possess demonstrable knowledge of latest Internet technologies including HTML, Web browsers, social media channels, Windows operating systems and graphic design software. Must have an understanding of CSS, PHP, Javascript and overall Web site administration. Must have very good oral and written communication skills with a strong attention to details and be able to work in a team environment.

B. Preferred Requirements: Working knowledge of Apple operating systems and Adobe products. A relevant bachelor’s degree. Web site experience working in a Content Management System (CMS) with administrators, faculty and staff in a secondary or post-secondary environment.

Nature and Scope of Duties: The Digital Communications Specialist reports to the Web Coordinator and performs the following duties:

  1. Publishes approved content on official pages of the college’s Web site and social media sites on a regular basis. Works in partnership with colleagues in the Office of Communications and Marketing to accomplish this task.
  2. Interacts with members of the college community to update pages and implement site-wide changes related to design and content needs. May initiate these content changes to ensure that official pages are up-to-date.
  3. Works to improve and enhance internal and external electronic communications, including but not limited to the college’s e-mail marketing efforts and electronic communications from the Office of Communications and Marketing to the rest of the campus (faculty, staff and students). Also works to recommend and implement ways to improve interactivity of the college’s Web site.
  4. Works with third party vendors, such as the college’s marketing agency, to create and implement digital marketing strategies.
  5. Ensure Web site SEO and accessibility with a Web-focused writing style, use of keywords, meta tags and W3C standards.
  6. Maintains up-to-date knowledge and skill with current technologies in the Web publishing industry.
  7. Provides regular content changes and acts as Web publisher for college home page and News & Events section of the Web site.
  8. Maintains electronic campus event calendar.
  9. Develop and program messages promoting college programs and events on digital displays.
  10. Related duties as assigned.

The Salary is $38,000
