Assistant Vice President for College Advancement – SUNY Delhi

SUNY Delhi seeks an experienced and energetic fund-raising professional to partner with the Vice President in building and implementing a robust strategy for fund development. The AVP will manage day-to-day operations of the SUNY Delhi’s advancement functions, including the College Foundation, assist in Campaign planning and development, and manage his or her own portfolio of selected benefactors/prospects.

Specifically, the AVP for College Advancement will:

  • Support the Vice President in developing, leading and evaluating a targeted and comprehensive fundraising strategy that meets the college’s short-and long-term fundraising needs.
  • Provide on-going team management, including implementing best practices, goal setting, and performance evaluations with metrics to measure success.
  • Establish, cultivate, solicit, and steward a targeted portfolio in support of the college’s philanthropic efforts.
  • Work with deans, other key administrators, and Foundation and Alumni Association leaders as appropriate in strategizing and carrying out their fundraising responsibilities, including the cultivation of new donors and continued stewardship of existing supporters. Handles a high volume of confidential information.
  • Work with the college’s communications/marketing team to develop and implement messages and themes for successful fundraising efforts.
  • Assist the Vice President in planning and launching a comprehensive capital campaign.
  • Provides supervision to professional and clerical staff. Administers Foundation and college policies and procedures.

Qualifications:  Minimum of a master’s degree and five years of progressive Advancement experience and responsibilities, including personal solicitation and travel. Supervisory experience required. The incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, and be willing to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.

Preference will be given to those with campaign experience in a higher education setting or similar not-for profit.
