Recap of April 15 Alumni Engagement Virtual Forum

Recap of April 15 Alumni Engagement Virtual Forum

The Alumni Engagement Forum was hosted by Kerry Gotham, Director of Alumni Engagement, SUNY Brockport; and Hailley Fenski, Associate Director, Alumni Engagement and External Relations, University at Buffalo School of Management.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, alumni relations offices are coming up with creative ways to connect through virtual events. Several attendees shared creative ways they are connecting to alumni including Trivia Tuesday, Happy Hour, Webinars on Planned Giving and Financial Management, Virtual Commencement Recognition, Virtual Book Discussion about a book written by a faculty member, and mascot coloring contests, to name a few.

Matthew Colson, Executive Director of Alumni Relations, Stony Brook University said, “The pandemic has forced us to make changes overnight creating new ways of working and we don’t need to go back to all of the old ways of doing things.”
