We also cheered on our colleagues as they won 80 awards during this year’s Awards for Excellence. Each winner was represented with a custom-designed jockey silk in their campus’ colors.

To be sure, we embraced our horse racing theme at every “turn,” from the floral wreath that provided a winners’ circle for our honorees, to a visit to the Racing Hall of Fame, to the many equine elements which our sponsors wove into their booth displays. There was even a life-sized horse that greeted attendees at registration!

Speaking of sponsors, we welcomed a record 28 of them this year, providing attendees with numerous tools and expertise — from the tried-and-true to the cutting-edge — to do their jobs better. Their support of our group is vital to our success, so please make sure to keep those conversations with our Sponsors going throughout the year.

We also offered attendees 50 presentation choices and eight concurrent “tracks” – yep, another record! Experts representing 40+ campuses and organizations, including such well-known universities as Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Clarkson, Cornell, Fordham, Rochester, Stony Brook and Williams College shared their experiences and advice. Many of their topics were proactively sought by our team as a direct result of prior attendees’ feedback, so if you attended and haven’t taken this year’s survey yet, please do so via our conference app in Guidebook.

And mark your calendars for next year’s conference: June 3-5 in Rochester. In the birthplace of such legendary companies as Kodak, Xerox and Bausch & Lomb — and the next generation of photonics — what else could our theme in the Year 2020 be but…

“Develop Your Vision!”
