09 Jul Heart of the Matter – Helping Donors Say “I Do” Again and Again
What does an engaged couple and engagement fundraising have in common? Both flourish when authenticity and gratitude are at the core of the relationship. At the June SUNYCUAD conference in Saratoga, Anna Schlia coached session attendees on ways to help donors say “I do” again and again.
Schlia, a Ph.D. student in Higher Education at the Warner School of Education at the University of Rochester and a Senior Director of Advancement, hosted “Working with Generous Hearts” on June 12 and shared the latest fundraising research and trends.
She highlighted the importance of expressing gratitude to donors using a sensory appeal that leaves a lasting impression. This can be done in new ways including through social media, or with tried-and-true methods such as thank-you letters or mentions in newsletters.
She also offered tips on understanding a donor’s consideration process and how to make them feel empowered in their giving and knowledgeable about how their gift will make an impact.
