About the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship
SUNYCUAD will award up to three Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarships for 2024 to an applicant from a SUNYCUAD member institution. Scholarships cover the registration fee and hotel cost for the awardee. The scholarship recognizes an advancement professional who displays leadership in fostering diversity, equity and inclusion within the profession, on their campus and/or within the surrounding community. Preference will be given to applicants who come from underrepresented populations, including but not limited to those identified by gender, race, ethnicity, religious affiliation, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, and/or physical and mental capabilities.
What to submit and how
- Submit a cover sheet that includes your name, local title, campus name, phone, fax and email address plus your immediate supervisor, that person’s title and email address.
- Draft a compelling essay, between 1-2 pages in length, outlining the reasons you should be awarded a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship. Be certain to answer within your essay the following questions:
- What experience do you have working in diversity, equity and inclusion, and how do you think receiving this scholarship will advance your work and experience in this field?
- What steps you have taken to advance your professional development?
- What value would you derive from the SUNYCUAD Educational Conference?
- What would your campus gain from your participation in the SUNYCUAD Educational Conference?
- Attach your up-to-date professional resume.
- Meet the application deadline of Feb. 29, 2024. No exceptions will be made. All application materials must be sent by e-mail. Send the (1) cover sheet, (2) essay and (3) updated resume to:

Deadline / awarding
Scholarship applications will be acknowledged upon receipt by e-mail. The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee, comprised of SUNYCUAD board members and volunteers, will meet shortly after the deadline. Final notice will be given to winners and all applicants no later than April 20.
