Binghamton University – Coordinator of Alumni Volunteer Engagement

The Coordinator for Alumni Volunteer Engagement is a professional institutional advancement position reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement. The Coordinator will assist with conceptualizing, planning and implementing opportunities to connect and engage alumni as volunteers of the University in ways that support and promote the mission of the Association and University.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Volunteer Management System, working closely with campus partners to identify new and existing opportunities, track engagement and recognize alumni volunteers
  • Engage and match alumni with fitting volunteer opportunities, working closely with campus partners and the Division of Advancement
  • Assist Development colleagues with meaningful engagement and cultivation strategies for alumni prospects
  • Serve as the staff lead for Alumni Global Day of Service, to include the planning, organization and execution
  • Serve as the staff lead for the annual Homecoming Tailgate
  • Serve as staff lead to assigned the regional alumni chapters
  • Cultivate alumni relationships to increase activity and number of regional chapters
  • Support the work of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and attend full Board meetings
  • Collaborate with campus partners throughout the University to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advances the goals of the University
  • Manage assigned budgets and assist with the management of financial transactions for the Alumni Association’s budget in accordance with all necessary policies and guidelines
  • Other related duties as assigned


Requirements:

We seek a creative and ambitious person with demonstrated organizational skills, proven special event development and implementation and strong volunteer management skills with the ability to build long-term relationships with constituents.  Must be able to use tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality with a strong commitment to the concepts of teamwork.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the university, alumni and other constituents to assure the success of a growing outreach initiative
  • High energy, creativity, team player
  • Knowledge of computers and current software
  • Budget and financial management skills preferred
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends and evenings regularly as needed
  • Work independently as well as a member of the team
  • Must be able to balance multiple priorities
